 Country Cannot Flourish Until Women Progress, Says PMPrime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said that for the overall growth of the country, it’s important to guarantee equal opportunities for women.

While lecturing at a meeting with a group of schoolgirls at his home, PM said that no civilization could go ahead if women lagged behind.

Mr. Singh congratulated the children from some of the Urdu-medium schools on the eve of Milad-un-Nabi.

This was PM’s first public meeting after his bypass surgery on January 24.

“We have been seeing this fair from a long time. Our ancestors said this fair has been held here for thousands of years. Priests cross the fire like Lord Vishnu’s devotee Prahlad. The Priests worship constantly for five days and bathe in the Ganges,” claimed Radhey Singh, a local.

In Delhi, people from all walks of life sprayed each other with colours.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrated across the country

New Delhi, Mar 11 : People across the country celebrated Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed with great joy and devotion on Tuesday.

Muslims from all walks of life visited mosques and shrines to participate in special prayers.

Several devotees took part in a procession from old Delhi to North and Central Delhi on Tuesday evening. It ended at Turkman Gate.

Delhi police made stringent security arrangements for the occasion.

In the Kashmir Valley, devotees participated n special prayers at the historical Dargah Hazratbal near the Dal Lake, where they caught a glimpse of the holy relics of Prophet Mohammed.

"We have first zeroed in on six seats in Jharkhand to contest where we have good presence. The party will, however, contest on all 14 seats and will announce its candidates phase wise," said Paswan.

The party''s senior leaders, in a meeting, decided to field candidates from Palamu, Chatra, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Koderma and Hazaribagh.
