New Delhi  - India's main Hindu nationalist opposition party, in its election manifesto released Friday, asserted its commitment to rebuild a Hindu temple that has been the cause of deadly rioting and promised tough national security laws as well as measures to provide relief to the poor.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politicians led by Lal Krishna Advani, the party's prime ministerial candidate, unveiled the document in New Delhi on a day Hindus mark as "Ram Navmi," or the birth anniversary of the god Ram.

New Delhi, Apr 3 : Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani on Friday dismissed the idea of a Third Front government.

Advani claimed that the main battle was between the Congress and the BJP.

"There is no scope for a Third Front government, which does not have the support of the BJP or the Congress. It is a farcical illusion in the minds of people," he told reporters on the sidelines of party's manifesto-release function.

New Delhi, Apr 3 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has assured help to the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) on its movement for a separate state of Gorkhaland in Darjeeling hills and adjoining areas.

Some members of the GJM met BJP prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani on Thursday and pledged their support to the BJP in different districts of West Bengal.

New Delhi, Apr 3 : The Congress has fielded Dasai Choudhary against Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan in the Hajipur parliamentary constituency in Bihar.

The decision came days after Paswan joined hands with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and the Samajwadi Party (SP) president Mulayam Singh to form an alliance to contest the upcoming general elections.

Hajipur will go to the polls on April 23 in the second phase of the three-phased elections in Bihar.

New Delhi, Apr 3 : Terming the BJP manifesto as being of "no value", the Congress on Friday said the right-wing is out of tune and raking up old issues like the Ram Temple and cow protection.

"BJP has lost its way and is "not in tune" with India. This manifesto is a reflection of the fact," said Kapil Sibal, a Congress spokesperson.

Accusing the BJP of misleading the country, Sibal said, "This is not a national agenda just a parochial BJP agenda which has no value."

According to the Delhi High Court's Thursday decision, Dr A K Bisoi - cardio thoracic surgeon, who was suspended March 9 for allegedly helping in the appointment of an unqualified person - has been allowed to perform surgery on infants suffering from heart ailments at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
