Maoists attack Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa to disrupt pollingRaipur/Ranchi/, Bhubaneshwar, Apr 16 : As the voting for the 15th Lok Sabha is underway, Maoists attacked polling booths and secuitry personnel in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa.

In Jharkhand, six Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed in a landmine blast in Latehar district.

According to police, Maoists detonated the landmine when the BSF personnel were travelling in a bus to a polling station near Aara village, about 140 km from the state capital. Later, Maoists ambushed the BSF bus.

"We have registered a case against Sahu. The matter is under investigation," District Superintendent of Police, S. Praveen Kumar, said.

On April 5, Sahu reportedly made a hate speech at a public meeting at Raikia town, in which he accused the church of indulging in conversion.

Addressing an election meeting along with NCP chief Sharad Pawar and CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury, Patnaik said he was happy with the seat-sharing arrangement reached between the three parties for Lok Sabha polls in Orissa.

Pawar fails to attend BJD-NCP-Left rally in OrissaBhubaneswar, Apr 3 : Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Friday failed to join a Biju Janata Dal- Left-Nationalist Congress Party rally here.

According to NCP officials, Pawar could not attend the gathering due to a problem with the aircraft that he was due to travel in.

"I would have liked to address the rally, but could not because of a technical snag in the aircraft," Pawar said.
