Flipsmartphone to be launched by Airtel, RIM On Wednesday, Airtel and Research in Motion (RIM) will announce the launch of BlackBerry Pearl Flipsmartphone in India. It has been learnt that the product would be priced at Rs 21,990.

The users are allowed to type and dial easily in the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone and the external display of smartphone provides previewing calendar reminders, email, text messages and phone calls.

Tata Tele tower business merges with Quippo

Tata Tele tower business merges with Quippo Tata Teleservices Ltd. (TTSL) is all set to merge its tower infrastructure business with tower company Quippo Telecom in a bid to deliver more efficient telecom infrastructure services. The merger would make the new entity as the second largest firm in terms of number of towers across India with 18,000 towers.

Quippo Telecom will hold 49 per cent in the new entity with full management control while Tata Teleservices would hold remaining shares in Wireless-TT Info-Services Ltd

Tata Teleservices to launch GSM service

tata-TeleservicesLeading telecom operator TATA Teleservices has decided to start Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) services by the end of this financial year. The company is already providing CDMA based services in various telecom circles of country.

Tata Teleservices is now planning to spend $2 billion to expand its subscriber base in the GSM market. It may be recalled that its major competitor Rcom has already launched GSM services in 11,000 towns of country few days back.

Whopping 9 million broadband subscriber base targeted by BSNL in two years With the aim to garner a subscriber base of 9 million within two years BSNL is all set to invest Rs 1,600 crore on technologies like WiMAX and optical fibre network. 

Company CMD, Kuldeep Goyal said, “We are working on a target to have around nine million broadband connections in the next two years.” He further added, “While the combined market share of BSNL and MTNL could be 50 per cent in two years, on our own we should be having around 9 million broadband connections.”
