Girls deprived of quality net cafes in Pakistan

Pakistan MapIslamabad, Dec 15 : Girls in Pakistan have said that they are being deprived of using computer and internet facilities owing to the non-conducive environment prevalent in the country''s internet cafes.

Although there are many Internet cafes in commercial and non-commercial areas in the country, girls find it difficult to enter such facilities, where receptionists watching vulgar movies or playing songs on their PCs, smoke-filled room with guys staring at the girls have become a common sight.

Many girls have revealed the problems they face due to unavailability of quality Internet cafes.

Taekwondo federation of India cancels friendship match with Pakistan

Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI)Lucknow, Dec 15 : Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) has cancelled invitation to Pakistan team for a friendship match that was to be held in Lucknow from December 19-21 in the wake of last months Mumbai terror attacks.

The championship will now be held among the teams from Nepal, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan and Korea on the same dates.

TFI had planned a second International Goodwill Taekwondo championship between India and Pakistan with an endeavour to strengthen sports relations between the two nations.

Pakistan must learn to live in harmony with the world: Envoy

US & Pakistan FlagWashington, Dec. 15 : Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Husain Haqqani, told a community meeting here on Saturday that Pakistan must live in harmony with the rest of the world.

Haqqani claimed that the actions taken by Islamabad after the Mumbai terror attacks have been widely welcomed by all, and admitted some Pakistan-based organisations or individuals may have been involved in those attacks.

UN ban on Pak charities aimed at crippling the Jaish

PakistanLahore, Dec. 15 : The December 10 UN ban on two Pakistani charity groups - the Al-Rashid Trust and the Al-Akhtar Trust - is actually meant to cripple the financial support of the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM), led by Maulana Masood Azhar.

According an analysis appearing in The News, while neither of the two proscribed trusts have anything to do with the Jamaat-ud- Daawa (JuD) led by Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, the UNSC notification banning them appears to be largely motivated by their alleged links to some al-Qaeda and Taliban-linked Pakistani Jihadi organizations.

India not the right place for dope case hearing: Asif

Mohammad AsifLahore, Dec. 15 : Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif wants the hearing for his doping offence to be held outside India because of its strained relations with Pakistan in the aftermath of the recent attacks in Mumbai by extremists.

"We are considering asking for the hearing to be held at a neutral venue because of the tense conditions," the Daily Times quoted Asif's lawyer Shahid Karim as saying on Sunday.

Asif failed a dope test while playing in the Indian Premier League in June, his third drugs-related offence in two years.

Indian films see steep fall in Pakistani audience post-Mumbai attacks

Islamabad, Dec 15 : Growing tension between India and Pakistan after the recent Mumbai terror attacks has adversely affected the business of Indian films in Pakistan,

Cinema officials have revealed that the Pakistani cinema halls have seen a 75 percent reduction in attendance of Indian films after the attacks.

They said that a large chunk of Pakistani moviegoers had refused to watch Indian films in local cinemas, and the business had suffered due to the Mumbai carnage.

While the Indian films had been in high demand before the attack, cinema officials said that the trend had apparently changed due to the tensions between the two countries.
