Pakistan is not a failed state, says GilaniDavos, Jan 30: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has strongly rejected the impression that Pakistan was a failed state, and said the country''s all vital institutions were functioning properly.

Addressing a special session on Pakistan and its neighbours, Gilani termed it "unfair" on part of the international community to view Pakistan as a failed state and said country''s Constitution, parliament, judiciary and the media were indicators of the fact that it was not a failed state.

According to well placed sources, the US missile attacks carried out in the Gangai Khel area in South Waziristan on January 23, killed five tribesmen namely Malik Din Faraz, Sher Ghulam, Hamdullah, Habib Noor and Lohi Khan.

The US led predator attacks in the tribal areas of Pakistan is targeted at the Al-Qaeda terrorists in the region, but Pakistani authorities have claimed that the drones are affecting innocent people more.

Younis has to perform well to lead from the front: Inzamam

Veteran Pakistan cricket players are of the view that handing over the captaincy to Younis Khan could revive the sagging fortunes of the national squad.

According to Inzamam-ul-Haq, one of the most successful captains of the Pakistan team said that the frequent changes in the team set-up is hampering the growth and the performance.

He hoped that Younis Khan would lead the side well and help Pakistan to regain the top spot in the World Cricket.
