Mingora (Pakistan), July 28 : Tehrik-i-Taliban chief of Swat unit, Maulana Fazlullah has threatened to unleash a large number of suicide bombers if the NWFP government launched a military operation in the Valley.

He said bombing of girls’ schools in the region was a ‘minor reaction’ of the Taliban and warned that they would surprise the whole world if so ordered by their leadership.

The cleric, who had been in the hiding for the past 10 months, said this while talking to reporters in Tawan village of Kabal on Sunday.

Islamabad, July 28 : The reversal of the decision to place the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) under the Interior Ministry’s control is “very embarrassing” for Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani as it occurred while he was en route to the US, said PML-N chairman Raja Zafarul Haq said.

He said that the PPP-led government did not consult the PML-N, who is an outside supporter to the federal government, before taking the decision.

Lahore, July 28 : Dr Mimpal Singh has become the first Sikh doctor in the history of Pakistan. After attaining his degree he vowed to treat his patients without any discrimination on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender.

He said he would set up free medical camps at gurdwaras across the country.

Islamabad - A missile strike Monday on a suspected Taliban hideout in Pakistan's north-western tribal region killed at least six people, officials said.

The predawn attack targeted a house in a village near the Azam Warsak area of the South Waziristan district bordering Afghanistan.

At least three people were also injured in the strike that destroyed the building, local administration officials said on the condition of anonymity.

No comment was available from military officials.

Karachi, July 28 : The Hindus in Karachi continue to struggle to take the complete control of a historical temple located on Manora Island dedicated to Hindu god Varun Rai. They want to acquire possession right to 11,000 square feet that the temple is built on, instead of the 2500 square feet that the Pakistan government recently handed over to them.

The Hindus want the whole area so that they can renovate and reconstruct the structure.

Wana (Pakistan), July 28 : At least six people were killed today in a missile strike in a village in South Waziristan bordering Afghanistan.

According to official sources, the missile, said to be fired from Afghanistan, hit a house next to a mosque in the village.

The villagers said they had heard noise of jets coming from Afghanistan just before the strike.

It was unclear to say if the missile was launched by Taliban militants or NATO-led forces fighting them in Afghanistan, the BBC quoted a Pakistani security official as saying.
