ICC hands over Asif’s Dubai detention report to PCB

International Cricket CouncilKarachi, Jan. 15 : There seems to be an unending list of troubles for Pakistani pacer Mohammad Asif, as just a day after the Pakistani senators demanded a life ban on the bowler, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received a copy of the report released by the Dubai authorities regarding Asif's detention there over possession of opium.

The report was sent by the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat, along with an enquiry about the PCB's future course of action on the issue.

Military might alone can not tackle terrorism: Musharraf

Musharraf, while addressing the annual dinner of World Affairs Council here said that Pakistan is itself a victim of terrorism, and it is taking all measures to counter the menace.

He claimed that Pakistan is itself is a victim of terrorism, and the Pak army is sincere in its effort to root out the terrorism.

PakistanIslamabad, Jan. 15 : Pakistan has claimed that it has come down hard on the terrorist outfit Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), and has put its top leaders Hafiz Saeed and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi behind bars, after admitting that the outfit was actually running terror camps behind the garb of a religious charity.

Interestingly, the clampdown against the Jamaat-ud-Dawa came after the Saudi intelligence chief's visit to Pakistan earlier this week.

It also claims to have shut down five camps of the JuD.

Mohammad Asif coming to resolve “financial issues” with Delhi Daredevils

Mohammad Asif Lahore, Jan. 15 : Banned Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Asif will be in New Delhi today to resolve some `financial issues' with the Delhi Daredevils, the team he represents in the Indian Premiere League (IPL).

"I am going to Delhi to try and sort out some financial issues with the Daredevils," The Daily Times quoted Asif, as saying.

Accompanied by his lawyer, Asif rejected the notion that his visit to India is in connection with the hearing regarding his case in the doping scandal during the first season of the IPL in April last year.

London, Jan. 15 : Political brick- batting between the two leading parties, and the rising insurgency in the tribal region of the country with Taliban taking hold in newer areas, is a serious threat to Pakistan's democratic set-up, a group of British MP's, who visited the country recently, has reported.

The British MP's said that the condition of Pakistan is very fragile, and it can change for the worse, hinting at a fall of democratic rule.

Talking to media here, Mohammad Sarwar, who led the ruling Labour Party's delegation to Islamabad said that the deteriorating political scenario in Pakistan can lead to another dictatorship.
