The political development has evoked a mixed reaction from among Pakistanis, with most of them having the opinion that the country might be pushed to yet another era of political uncertainty.

IslamabadPakistan President Pervez Musharraf, Aug 8: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has reportedly said that he won’t resign from the Presidency in the event of Impeachment Motion brought against him, and that he would contest every charge to be levelled against him by the federal government.

After it became amply clear that the Government will soon bring an impeachment motion against him, Musharraf held consultations with legal aides till late last night, and also made important telephone calls to his allies to foil the ruling coalition’s bid to impeach him.

Pervez MusharrafIslamabad, Aug 6 : President Pervez Musharraf will have to face impeachment under Article 47 of the Constitution if he fails to take vote of confidence from the assemblies immediately.

Pakistan People’s Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari at a joint press conference with Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif announced about Musharraf’s impeachment.

The announcement came after two-days of marathon meetings held by the ruling coalition parties including PPP, PML-N and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam.

Pakistan, USWashington, Aug. 7 : The governments of the United States and Pakistan are working together to overcome intelligence-related problems, even as Washington, or more specifically the Pentagon, has admitted that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) needs to be reined in.

"With regards to the Pakistani intelligence services, I think that''s been historically an issue in that country," he said. "There are signs that it remains so. And … our two governments are working to deal with those problems," the Dawn quoted Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrell as saying during a regular briefing on Wednesday.

Musharraf’s impeachment draft ready

Pervez MusharrafIslamabad, August 7 : The draft regarding the proposed impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf has been completed by a four-member Draft Committee of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party-Pakistan Muslim League coalition and placed with the Leader of the House in the Senate.

According to The News, the committee comprises of Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iaqbal, Sherry Rehman, Farooq H. Naek and Raza Rabbani.

A joint statement was issued to the media at 3 p. m. in Zardari House today.
