Tata Power To Buy 20.95 MW Wind AssetsTata Power stated that it is buying 20.95 MW operating wind assets in Maharashtra from Niskalp Energy.

The country's leading private sector power producer will also install added capacity of 150-200 MW in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu in 2010.

Tata Power has 200 MW installed capacity in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka.

Tata Power Managing Director Prasad Menon stated that the company thus far generated 20% of power form "clean sources" that will go up to 25% by the next three-four years.

Mr. Menon stated, "Today our wind portfolio is 200 MW and going forward we intend to add substantially to our renewables portfolio."

In September 2009, it had commissioned 2 MW-class wind turbines, which in the first phase was powering installed capacity of 10 MW. After the first phase ends, "a second phase of 88 MW is on the anvil", added the press release. (With Inputs from Agencies)
