Support for U.S. military mission in Afghanistan is increasing
A recent poll has indicated that a majority of Americans support the military mission in Afghanistan and 25 percent see the effort ending with a clear military victory.
According to Angus Reid Public Opinion Poll released on Monday, U. S. military operations using in Afghanistan were backed by fifty-four percent of those polled, an increase of 5 points since December. The poll also found that opposition to the mission was down 4 points to 38 percent, the poll found.
While the lowest degree of support was in the U. S. Midwest, where only 50 percent said they approved, at 64 percent, those in the Western United States were the strongest supporters of the mission.
With only 35 per cent saying they were confident the Obama administration will be able to "finish the job" in Afghanistan, the plan for Afghanistan outlined by President Barack Obama was met with skepticism by most Americans. According to the poll, fifty-four percent said they are not too confident or not confident at all.
1,004 randomly selected adults were contacted in poll conducted on the Feb. 16-17. Plus or minus 3.1 percentage points was the margin of error. (With Input from Agencies)
