‘Superman’ producer Brian Quintana planning to run for political office

SupermanWashington, January 14 : `Superman: Man of Steel' producer Brian Quintana says that he may run for California''s 31st Congressional seat if Xavier Becerra signs up to become President-elect Barack Obama''s Commerce Secretary.

The former Hollywood nightclub boss and socialite is contemplating running for political office if Becerra steps down.

Quintana, a former servant of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, believes that he would be supported by many of his famous friends in Hollywood.

The first time he ran for public office was in 1992, when his supporters included movie studio executive Sherry Lansing, Martin Sheen, Anjelica Huston and entertainment mogul David Geffen.

He got 5,744 votes for California''s 45th Assembly district at the time.

Quintana again ran in 1994, but withdrew to endorse then Assembly candidate and current Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Now, he is planning to take over Becerra''s seat.

"I have been urged to explore a run, and will be talking to past supporters of my political, charitable, and entertainment endeavours. My commitment to public service and strengths in district are well documented, but ultimately my decision will come down to money," Contactmusic quoted him as saying. (ANI)
