Southern television giant, Sun TV Network has recorded an increase of 11.61 per cent in net profit to Rs. 177.50 crore during the quarter till March 2013 compared to Rs. 159.03 crore during the same quarter of the previous financial year.

Kalanithi Maran-owned Sun TV Network said that its sales rose 10.69% to Rs. 472.67 crore in the quarter from January to March, 2013 compared to against Rs 427.01 crore recorded in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2011-2012.

As for the whole financial year 2012-2013, the company's net profit fell 1.63 per cent to Rs. 683.34 crore during the year till March 2013 compared to Rs. 694.65 crore during the previous financial year. The company's sales increased 3.43 per cent to Rs. 1817.62 crore in the financial year 2012-2013 compared to Rs 1757.37 crore during the previous year 2011-2012.

Meanwhile, the company has said that it has increased advertisement tariffs by an average 19 per cent following growth in advertisement revenues. SL Narayanan, Group CFO, Sun Group said that the tariff will be applicable to week day prime time slots with effect from July 15.
