"Based on the initial reports, a suicide bomber was trying to target the Afghan National Army staff bus but could not get to his target and the blast injured only civilians," said General Ali Shah Paktiawal, crime branch head at Kabul's police department.

The bomber blew himself up near the famous and historic area of the city, he said.
