A Study Claims That Pterodactyls Were Too Heavy To Fly
A species of Dinosaurs, pterodactyls, which have been depicted as ultimate flyers in
the dinosaur movies such as Jurassic park, in reality may not have been able to lift themselves off the ground.
It has been claimed by a new research that the early reptiles to have wandered this earth were too heavy to fly even with their enormous wings. Some of them could even grow to the size of small aeroplanes.
If adhered to the lead scientist of the study, these reptiles were unable to flap fast enough in order to create the thrust, which could keep these heavy reptiles up in the air.
The name of the dinosaur pterodactyl has actually been taken from a Greek word pterosaur that means “flying lizard.”
These reptiles, which have been thought to be the biggest creatures to ever fly, existed between 251 and 65 million years ago. One of the fossils of this species has an enormous wing of more than 15 metres.
