Strike by British Airways cabin crews costing the airline $10 million a day
Officials have said that a third five-day strike by British Airways cabin crews has disrupted hundreds of flights and is costing the airline $10 million a day.
The Daily Telegraph has reported that thousands of BA passengers Saturday had their flights canceled or rescheduled because of the long-running labor dispute between the airline and the cabin crews, represented by the union Unite.
It planned to fly about 75 percent of the customers, about 65,000 people, who had paid for flights during this week's strike, which is scheduled to end on Wednesday, British Airways has said.
The Telegraph has reported that pay and working conditions are the key sticking points in the dispute, which began in March and could continue in July with yet another strike.
Its total passenger numbers decreased 14.2 percent last month to 2.37 million passengers, down from 2.76 million in May 2009, British Airways has said. (With Inputs from Agencies)
