Still a long way for the Hyundai i10 diesel

Hyundai-i10Keeping in mind that i10 has become the flagship model for Hyundai India in the domestic circuit displacing the bestselling Santro, the 1.1-litre CRDI unit of the i10 was expected to make its inroads soon in the Indian market but the recent media reports claim that the company has shelved the plans to launch the product in the domestic market in the short-run.

As the pricing of the vehicle was coming out to be in the range of Rs. 6 lakh as the engine could not be manufactured locally, which couldn't had made any sense as the i20 diesel starts around the same price point.

It is now believes that the company will only be launching this product in 2013 after it is able to manufacture the engine of the product locally which will play a major role in keeping the cost of the vehicle down.

In fact, the i10 petrol has been an instant hit in the Indian market and has played a major role in empowering the company to file huge numbers and retain its second largest seller position in the passenger car market in India.
