Sri Lanka to announce Pakistan tour programme today

Islamabad, Jan. 6 : As the mystery behind the delay in announcing the tour itinerary by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) continues, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to get a response from the SLC officials today, the Daily Times reported.

Commenting on the tour preparations, PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said: "The Pakistan board is busy in giving final touches to the schedule of home series against Sri Lanka."

Confirming reports about Australia touring Pakistan in the coming months, Butt said: "Cricket Australia officials have ensured the PCB that their team would visit Pakistan in March this year for the one-day international series."

Rejecting reports which suggested that the PCB was looking for neutral venues to host the Kangaroos, Butt stated that the board would go for the option only after a firm refusal by Cricket Australia.

"We have asked them to give us time before refusing to visit Pakistan so that we can go for a neutral option and they have assured us of this," he said.

However, Butt feared that the proposed Aussie tour of Pakistan may get cancelled due to security reasons.

"Cricket Australia officials fear that their government would block their team's visit to Pakistan on security grounds," Butt added. (ANI)
