Skoda price cut may fuel price war
After the price war that has already initiated with the launch of products like Figo, Beat and i10 in the Indian hatchback market, it is expected that the recent price cut announced by the Czech auto major Skoda is expected to fuel it even further. It is to be mentioned here that the company has recently announced a price cut in the hatch model in its portfolio i. e. by Rs 67,000 on the petrol variant and Rs 1.1 lakh on the diesel.
While Hyundai had also reduced the price of i20 by Rs. 40,000 in April this year, it is expected that the price war in the premium hatchback segment will get more intense in times to come.
SkodaAuto India director (sales & marketing) Thomas Kuehl said that with the price cut announced in the model, it now stands head to head as compared to its rivals in the Indian market.
It may be noted here that the entry-level model of the product will now come at a cost of Rs 4.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) against the previous entry price of Rs 5.02 lakh, while the diesel will now cost Rs 5.4 lakh against the previous price of Rs 6.5 lakh.
