Shadadharam Pratishtha held at Nerul Ayyappa temple
Nerul Sree Ayappa Seva Samiti conducted the ceremonial ritual of 'Shadadharam Pratishtha' at the temple premises recently. The ritual conducted prior to the construction of the temple and installation of the idol is of utmost significance in sanctifying and infusing energy within the temple. "The temple
should always tower from that of any other construction.
Since the hall within the temple premise was taller than the temple, the management was advised to carry out the necessary changes. It's been six months into the construction and the ritual of shadadharam was a prominent one towards the construction of the temple," said a member of the trust Ravi Kumar.
The Pratishtha comprised of nine parts conducted under the able guidance of learned priests. With this, the ongoing work at the Ayyappa temple to rectify the difference height between the temple and hall will now gain momentum.
"The ritual combines of nine parts which has to be placed prior to the construction of the temple. This is done with an aim of infusing proper energies that a temple should possess. From hereon the construction of temple will commence and it should be completed by 2010," Kumar said.
Following the completion of the construction, the temple will be having total of eight idols. The other prominent addition expected to be constructed within the temple would be the flag pole often used for announcing the commencement of any temple function.
