Sensex Zooms 124 Pts; Metal, Bank Up
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex gained more than 120 points during the morning session today on purchasing by funds and retail investors, spurred by normal monsoon estimation and hopes of positive Q4 earnings from RIL and TCL to be declared later today amid a sturdy trend in the Asian bourses.
At 10.36 a. m., the 30-share index Sensex remained up by 123.96 points to trade at 19,594.94.
The 50-share NSE index Nifty was up by 28.05 points to trade at 5,879.70.
The scrips, which topped the volume charts comprised HDFC Bank, TCS, Infosys, SBI and RIL.
The top gainers in the Sensex pack included HDFC, HDFC Bank, TCS, TIL, SBI, ONGC and L&T.
Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors and Bharti Airtel were the top losers in the Sensex.
Among the sectoral indices, the metal index gained 1.21%, bankex rose 0.59%, IT increased 0.57% and capital goods 0.47%.
In the opening session, the Sensex surged 164.51 points to 19,635.49 points and the Nifty grew by 42.40 points to 5,894.05.
