The 30-share index Sensex continued to trade in a lackluster manner owing to aimless market and also because of F&O expiry day.

Capital goods, FMCG and metal stocks remained up, whereas IT, teck and bankex traded on a lower note.

At 11.16 a. m., the Sensex gained 48.02 points to trade at 17,803.96. In the meantime, the Nifty was trading at 5,336.05 after gaining 12.90 points.

The Sensex belled on a flat day after declining 5.43 points at 17,750.51, whereas the broad based Nifty begun with a decline of 7.00 points at 5,316.15.

The top gainers in the Sensex comprised L&T (1.45%), Sterlite Ind (India) (1.19%), HUL (1.09%), ONGC (0.86%), ITC (0.84%), and Tata Steel (0.73%).

In contrast, the major losers in the Sensex were TCS (-0.99%), I C I C I Bank (-0.98%), Maruti Suzuki (-0.88%), RCom (-0.64%), Infosys (-0.36%), and Tata Power (-0.29%).

The BSE Midcap index gained 0.61% and the BSE smallcap index remained up by 0.95%. (With Inputs from Agencies)
