RP in, Munaf and Uthappa out for T20 World Cup

R P SinghLeft-arm medium pace bowler R P Singh has made his way into the 15-member Indian team for the next month's ICC World Twenty20 to be played in England.

RP Singh has been one of the most sensational bowlers in the IPL this year. He has already taken 12 wickets in six games for the Deccan Chargers at an impressive average rate of 6.27 runs per over. RP will lead the bowling attack with Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar and Irfan Pathan. Moreover, he will also like to exploit the seaming bowling conditions in England.

It may be recalled that 9 of the 15 members in the team are the same who played in Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa two years ago.

Earlier the selectors had announced a list of 30 probable players for the event to be played from June 5-21 this year.

However, paceman Munaf Patel, wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthick and Mumbai Indians all-rounder Abhishek Nayar's could not make it to the list.

The selection panel was headed by former India skipper Krishnamachari Srikkanth.

The team will be led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni while Vireder Sehwag has been named deputy.

Meanwhile, talented all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been given a chance in the team.

As expected, Suresh Raina and Pragyan Ojha have also earned their places in the squad. Both these players have given shown consistent performance over the last one year.

Selectors have shown faith for both of its opening batsman Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.
