Washington, Oct 27 : Rheumatologists at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York have now uncovered how women suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disease, can have successful pregnancies.

Earlier, women with SLE were advised not to have children, and in case they did conceive a child, they were advised to have therapeutic abortions to prevent severe flares of their lupus.

Now, the new research provides information that may yield insights that support a reversal of that thinking.

Washington, Oct 27 : People with rheumatoid arthritis may be as much at risk of cardiovascular disease as that of type 2 diabetes, according to a new study.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic disease that causes pain, stiffness, swelling, and limitation in the motion and function of multiple joints. Apart from joints, RA can also cause inflammation in other organs as well.

While people with RA have long been known to be susceptible to cardiovascular disease, this is the first study to compare this risk with the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

New York, Oct 27 : American actor Denis Leary has earned himself the ire of gays for his slurs, and is currently defending his right to call homosexual men “fags”.

Leary, who had earlier come under attack for making fun of autism, blames his parents and the Catholic Church for his slurs.

In an interview with next month''s issue of gay magazine The Advocate, Leary was made to defend himself after he was grilled about his upcoming book, ‘Why We Suck’, and a chapter titled ‘Matt Dillon Is a Giant Fag.’

“What gives you the right to use the ‘F-word?’,” the New York Post quoted interviewer Brandon Voss as demanding.

Islamabad- At least 20 people were killed in a missile attack carried out by a suspected US drone while 10 security personnel and a technician died in a suicide bombing in Pakistan's tribal region, officials said Monday.

A single missile fired from a pilotless aircraft hit the house of local Taliban commander Mohammad Omar late Sunday in the Shakai area of South Waziristan, they said.

"Commander Omar and 19 more people died in the strike, and three were injured," a security official said.

The attack demolished Omar's house and badly damaged two adjacent buildings.
