London, Mar 23: There has been a dramatic increase in the number of people harming themselves deliberately in the past five years in Britain, according to a new survey.

The biggest rise in self-harm and attempted suicide has been among young women between the ages of 16 and 24, struggling to cope with the pressures of modern living.

According to the research led by World Health Organisation (WHO), there were 97,871 hospital admissions for deliberate self-harm in England in 2007-08, of which 4,337 were children under the age of 14.

London, Mar 23 : Troubled pop star Amy Winehouse has reportedly been ordered to come up with a new set of songs for her new album after music bosses were left unimpressed by her latest offering.

The `Rehab' hitmaker recorded a number of demo tracks for her highly anticipated third album during a three-month hiatus on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia earlier this year (09).

However, her efforts haven''t hit the mark with bosses at the star''s label.

Cowell, who is worth 188 million dollars, paid a whopping 11.9 million dollars for his L. A. mansion two years ago.

Since then, Cowell has been busy renovating the two-storey mansion, and the most recent change in the mansion happens to be the installation of a solarium adjacent to the master bedroom with a full-length tanning machine and a smaller facial tanner.

London, Mar 23 : Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has confirmed that Britain has been placed on terror alert, and warned that an attack on the country is "highly likely."

She said the country would train 60,000 shop and hotel staff to deal with any untoward incident.

Speaking ahead of the publication of a new anti-terrorism strategy, Jacqui Smith said: "An attack on this country is highly likely. It could happen without warning."

London, Mar 23 : Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has in no way gained favour with his current girlfriend Gabriela Entringer's police chief dad, who has told her to stay away from the footie star.

Ronaldo, 24, has been dating the Brazilian fitness trainer since he met her at a nightclub six weeks ago, but Entringer's dad, Jadson, has begged her to get rid of the Manchester United player.

"Jadson has become a bundle of nerves over this," the Daily Star quoted Gabi's mother, Rosana Entringer, as saying.

Melbourne, Mar 23 : Late Brit celebrity Jade Goody''s half brother, Brett Luckens, has revealed that he is devastated by her death, especially since he was not able to meet her before she passed away.

Luckens, 31, who is based in Sydney, wanted to fly around the globe from his home in Cronulla to be with Goody during her ordeal, but he was scared a five-year rift with his mother, Jackiey Budden, would make the situation even worse.
