According to New Idea magazine, Julie Vidovic, 42, revealed that she had met 42-year-old Ramsay when he came for a visit to Sydney in June, and that he told her that he was no longer married.

"He told me when we met that he was separated, and he and his wife were living separate lives," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted her as telling the magazine.

A resident on the central coast complained that a man visited him at his home, introduced himself as an Israeli university student and tried to sell counterfeit artwork, an official statement said.

According to the police, the fake artwork is part of a global scam, allegedly involving Israeli nationals, which has been operating in Europe, the US and Australia since
