Blast at Pakistan hospital kills 20

Pakistan, Peshawar BlastPeshawar, Aug 19 : A bomb blast outside a hospital in northwest Pakistan’s Dera Ismail Khan, located about 300 km from here, on Tuesday killed at least 20 people and injured 15 others, official sources said.

"We don''t know whether it was a suicide attack. I have initial reports of 20 dead," said Syed Mohsin Shah, said a senior government official.

According to reports, the scene outside the Dera Ismail Khan District Hospital saw 18 bodies on the ground immediately after the blast.

Baitullah Mehsud sets up parallel judicial system in South Waziristan

Peshawar, Aug 17 : Pakistan Taliban commander Baitullah Mehsud on Saturday issued a decree, setting up a parallel judicial and dispute arbitration system in South Waziristan.

Pamphlets, carrying orders of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan chief about the new set-up, were distributed in Tank, Jandola and other Mehsud-dominated areas, the Dawn reports.

According to the pamphlet, Mohammad Raees Mehsud will head the central committee, comprising Raees Mehsud, Maulvi Azmatullah, Maulvi Ikramullah, Maulvi Abdul Wahab and Haleem Khan. Mohammad Raees will also be in-charge of the new system.

Taliban levy taxes on Bajaur traders to support families of militants killed in jihad

Peshawar, Aug 15: The Pakistan’s unit of the Taliban, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has reportedly imposed fixed taxes on the locals in the Bajaur agency ranging between Rs 30 and 2500, depending upon the financial status of the people and traders, to support the families of the militants killed in the war against the US.

Bajaur is the worst case where reports say the Taliban have imposed fixed taxes on traders. “I pay Rs 500 a month to the Taliban as per their decree. I can afford to pay the sum, otherwise it would have been great injustice,” said Rustam Khan, who runs a small business in the Khar bazaar.

Thirteen killed in Peshawar bomb blastPeshawar, Aug. 12  At least 13 people were killed in a bomb attack on an Air Force bus here on Tuesday.

Security officials said that the blast occurred near the Badaber Air Force Base on the outskirts of the city.

They said the bomb was planted on a bridge and went off as the vehicle drove over it.

NWFP Assembly passes no-trust resolution against Musharraf

NWFP Assembly passes no-trust resolution against MusharrafPeshawar, Aug 12 : The NWFP Assembly today passed a resolution of no-confidence against President Pervez Musharraf, who is to soon face impeachment motion from the ruling PPP-led coalition.

A total of 107 votes supported the resolution whereas only four went against it, while 13 members abstained from voting, reported The News.

The NWFP Assembly comprises of 124 members.

Earlier, NWFP senior minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour presented the resolution and the members chanted ‘Go Musharraf Go’.
