Peshawar, Nov 15 : Pakistan security forces pounded the hideouts of suspected militants and criminals in villages located on the boundary between Peshawar and Mohmand Agency with gunship helicopters and artillery, killing 20 militants and injuring 15 others.
“At least, 20 militants were killed and 10-15 others injured in Badi Koruna, Zarif Koruna, Shno Ghundai, Ayeshakor areas of Shabqadar,” Capital City Police Officer Mohammad Suleman said on Friday.
Peshawar, Nov 13: The Commercial Attaché of Iranian Consulate, Hashmatullah Atharzadeh, has been kidnapped from Hayatabad on Thursday after unknown gunmen killed his guard.
Police sources said that Atharzadeh was traveling towards his office from his home when his vehicle was intercepted by some unknown armed men who took him hostage and on resistance gunned down his guard identified as Sajjad, before fleeing from the scene.
The kidnapping comes one day after a USAID worker was shot dead in Peshawar
Peshawar, Nov 12: Pakistan’s unit of the Taliban, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has said that a NWFP minister was the prime target of yesterday’s suicide attack at Peshawar sports stadium. But, fortunately, the minister survived, though two of his guards were killed in the attack.
Claiming responsibility of the attack, The TTP operating in the semi-tribal Darra Adam Khel said that senior NWFP minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour was their target.
Peshawar, Nov 12: The tribesmen in Pakistan living in villages along the Afghan border are caught between the devil and the deep sea, as, one the one hand, the Government wants them to form Lashkars to fight back the Taliban, and, on the other hand, they continuously run the risk of being beheaded by the Taliban, as happened around three weeks ago when a couple of tribal leaders beheaded and their bodies tossed on the roads setting an example for others.
