Adiala Jail shifts 30 convicts to make room for Mumbai suspectsRawalpindi, Feb. 14: Adiala Jail authorities have moved thirty convicts to other Rawalpindi jails to make room for the Mumbai terror suspects, who would be sent here after approval of their remand by court.

"Convicts in high-profile cases like assassination of Benazir Bhutto, attack on former president Pervez Musharraf, blast at Marriott Hotel etc had not been moved out of Adiala Jail," the jail authorities told the Daily Times.

Islamabad, Feb 14: Archaeologists have found significant clues and material along the right bank of Indus on the Sukkur-Shikarpur highway in Pakistan, which provide evidence of the continuity of ancient civilization in the region, dating back to 3,960 years.

The region, known as Lakhian Jo Daro, is located some 40 kilometers north of Kot Diji and about 120 kilometers southwest of Moenjodaro.

The region has been known to archaeologists of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, since the early 1980s and to local, provincial and federal officials as well as to international experts since 1988.

Prof Unaiza Niaz , president of the Women Section of World Psychiatric Associations, said that in Pakistan, societal attitudes and norms, as well as cultural practices like Karo Kari and Vani, severely affected women's mental health.

She said that physically abused women were more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety and stress-related syndromes.

Now, PCB asks IPL to backdate Asif’s banLahore, Feb. 14: Two days after beleaguered Pakistani pacer Mohammad Asif said he would be challenging the ban imposed on him by the Indian Premier League (IPL), now the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to support the bowler asking the IPL to revise the time period of the one-year ban.

The PCB has requested IPL officials to revise the time-period of the ban so that it ends in July 2009.

The ban imposed by the IPL was already backdated to September 2008, when it suspended Asif on charges of taking a banned substance to enhance his performance on the field.

Pak’s FIA team interrogates Lakhvi, to grill Kasab’s parentsLahore, Feb. 14: Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has set-up a special investigative body to interrogate the nine suspects who have been arrested in connection with the Mumbai terror attacks.

According to The Daily Times, the committee headed by FIA Director General Tariq Khosa interrogated Lashkar-e-Toiba's (LeT) Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, alleged to have given training to the Mumbai attackers, on Friday.

The special investigative team is also planning to grill parents of Amir Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving Mumbai terrorist.

US claims Drones flown from a Pakistani base, Pak deniesWashington, Feb. 14 : A top US official has revealed that the unmanned Predator aircrafts which have been targeting militant hideouts in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) bordering Afghanistan, are flown from an airbase inside Pakistan's territory.

Chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Dianne Feinstein, said CIA's unmanned aircrafts are being operated from an airbase inside Pakistan.

"As I understand it, these are flown out of a Pakistani base," The Daily Times quoted Feinstein, as saying.
