FBI to question Mumbai terror suspects held in Pakistan

FBI, United StatesIslamabad - A team of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is arriving in Islamabad next week to question the November
27 Mumbai terrorist attack suspects held by Pakistani authorities, an official said on Friday.

"The FBI team will interrogate the six suspects who are detained in Pakistan and charged in connection with Mumbai terror attack," a senior official in Pakistani foreign ministry told Deutsche Presse- Agentur dpa.

Tajikistan, Uzbekistan approve NATO supply transit

NATO, AfghanistanDushanbe, Feb. 20 : Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have approved the transportation of non-military NATO supplies for Afghanistan via their territory, a US military commander said on Tajik state television.

"Tajikistan has allowed (NATO) to use its railways and roads to transit non-military goods to Afghanistan," said Rear Admiral Mark Harnitchek of the US Transportation Command.

Washington is looking for alternative supply routes for NATO troops stationed in Afghanistan after militants in Pakistan stepped up their attacks on supply fleets.

Dera Ismail Khan blast toll rises to 30

PakistanDera Ismail Khan (Pakistan), Feb. 20 : Curfew was imposed in Dera Ismail Khan in northwestern Pakistan on Friday after a suicide bomber killed at least 30 people and wounded several others.

The dead were part of a Shia Muslim's funeral procession, who was shot dead on Thursday.

"The blast occurred when a funeral procession for a Shia Muslim murdered a day earlier was passing by," The Dawn quoted Syed Mohsin Shah, the area''s top administrator, as saying.

The death toll is expected to rise further, sources at the Dera Ismail Khan''s main hospital said.

Pakistan's Swat truce worries India

A K AntonyNew Delhi - The pact between the Taliban and Pakistan in the Swat valley has added to India's worries on regional security, the country's Defence Minister AK Antony said Friday.

"From 26/11 (the Mumbai terrorist attacks) onwards, we are very much concerned about the security scenario. This new development, in a way, adds to our worries," Antony was quoted as saying by PTI news agency.

Other Indian officials have expressed similar concern over the peace pact in Swat, which is just about a five-hour drive from northern Indian towns like Amritsar and Srinagar located near the India-Pakistan border.

Blast kills at least four at funeral in north-west Pakistan Islamabad  - A blast ripped through a funeral procession in north-western Pakistan Friday, killing at least four people and wounding several others, police said.

The attack took place in the town of Dera Ismail Khan in North-West Frontier Province near the Afghan border when Shiite Muslims were marching to a mosque to offer funeral prayers for a community member who was fatally shot Thursday.

"The explosion in the midst of the procession killed at least four people," police officer Mohammad Javed said.
