Qureshi says Sharia-deal is ‘local solution to a local problemWashington, Feb. 25: Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmmood Qureshi has explained that last week's Sharia-deal between the Pakistan Government and the Taliban is a "local solution to a local problem."

"The logic behind this agreement is a local solution to a local problem, which is quick dispensation of justice. It is not any appeasement towards militants," the Daily Times quoted Quershi, as saying after meeting his Afghan counterpart Rangeen Dafdar Spanta here on Tuesday.

"I don't want to become premier or president, but want reinstatement of all sacked judges according to the signed agreement (Murree Accord)," the Daily Times quoted Sharif, as saying.

Clinton to meet Pakistan foreign minister

Clinton to meet Pakistan foreign minister Washington - US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will meet Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday as part of a strategic review of the situation in Afghanistan.

US State Department spokesman Robert Wood said the meeting is "part of the overall strategic review that we're having with regards to Pakistan and Afghanistan."

Clinton will on Thursday meet Afghan Foreign Minister Rangeen Dadfar Spanta and hold a three-way meeting with the two diplomats.
