PML-N blames PPP-led Government for maligning SharifIslamabad, Feb. 25 : Pakistan Muslim League (N) has said that Federal Government had tried to bribe Nawaz Sharif , and asked him to recognise the PCO judiciary.

Talking to mediapersons after a Supreme Court verdict which disqualified former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif from contesting elections, PML (N) leader Pervez Rashid said the government had offered Sharif that if he recognised PCO judiciary, he would be declared eligible for contesting polls and his brother would not be dethroned from Punjab chief minister's chair.

PakistanIslamabad, Feb. 25 : Drug trafficking in Pakistan may witness an upsurge as security forces are preoccupied with tackling terrorism in the country. This is what the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) of the country fears.

The Joint Director (intelligence) of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Zegham Khan told a Senate Standing Committee on Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis that it was difficult to curb drug trafficking due to a shortage of manpower.

He said that without the help of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) and the army, it was virtually impossible to tackle the menace.

Pakistan Govt. accepts Taliban ceasefire in Bajaur

Pakistan MapKhar (Pakistan), Feb. 25 : Reciprocating to the Taliban ceasefire in the Bajaur tribal region, Pakistani security forces have announced a four-day suspension of military operations against terrorists.

Political Agent Shafeerullah Khan announced that guns would remain silent in Bajaur for four days and troops would not take action. However, he said that troops would react if the truce was violated. Khan strongly denied any secret deal between the government and militants.

Court disqualifies top opposition leaders from holding office Islamabad  - Pakistan's Supreme Court on Wednesday maintained the disqualification of former prime minister and opposition leader Nawaz Sharif from holding elected office because of his previous convictions, a move that could lead to political turmoil.

The court ruling also nullified the last year's election of his brother Shahbaz Sharif, the chief minister of country's most-populous and prosperous eastern province of Punjab.

Is Musharraf plotting his political comeback?

Karachi, Feb. 25: Former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf may have regularly denied reports that he is planning to re-enter the political by lanes of Islamabad, but it seems that he still nurtures dream of making a comeback to the political scene of the country.

Continuing his recent strings of meeting with several political leaders, Musharraf met Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Chief, Pir Pagara.

Sources said Musharraf and Pagara discussed the current political scenario, and a probable tie-up between the former allies in near future.

Musharraf also discussed about the proposed lawyers' march, to which several parties including the Nawaz Sharif headed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have lent support.

Pakistan rejects claim of Osama Bin Laden hiding inside its territoryIslamabad, Feb. 25: Pakistan has rejected claims that Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden has taken refuge inside its territory.

A member of the National Assembly (NA), Sajid Hussain Turi, referring to a report which claimed that Laden was most likely hiding in the town of Parachinar in Kurram Agency, said that it was impossible for Laden to seek refuge in an area dominated by an anti-militant population.
