Herceptin triples breast cancer patients’ chance of survival

London, Sept 26 : A new study has revealed that women with advanced breast cancer can live longer by taking the drug Herceptin, even after they have suffered a relapse.

The finding is based on data from the Hermine trial, an observational study involving 340 women with advanced HER2-positive breast cancer.

Herceptin is the only HER2-targeted therapy proven to extend lives in both early and advanced stages of the disease.

Manners, not looks, matter to women looking for Mr Right

London, September 26 : When it comes to choosing Mr Right, it’s not so much a man’s killer looks or IQ that matters to a woman, but his manners.

The findings are based on a survey commissioned by Etiquette authority Debrett's.

During the survey, nearly two-thirds of women said that manners were the most important quality in the man of their dreams, while around a third chose intelligence. On the other hand, only one in 20 women said that she would want her partner to have handsome looks.

Baked beans diet helps man shed 38 kilos!

London, Sept 26 : A Brit man weighing a massive 133 kilos lost 38 kilos when he went on a baked beans diet, and ate nothing but that for six whole months.

28-year old James Skeates from Suffolk now weighs 95 kilos.

And, he certainly swears by the diet, thanks to which he now has the energy to keep up with his young children Eleanor, three, and George, 10 months.

Glaxo’s ‘Cervarix’ Gets EU Authorization

London: GlaxoSmithKline PLC’s cervical cancer vaccine ‘Cervarix’ has received nod for sale across the European Union.

The vaccine has been sanctioned to avert pre-cancerous wounds and cervical cancer caused by human papillomavirus types 16 and 18 that held responsible for over 70 per cent of all cervical cancer cases.

The world’s second-biggest drug manufacturer said that the indication for Cervarix is based on statistics developed by clinical studies in girls and young women between 10 and 25.

Another Foot-And-Mouth Case Confirmed In Surrey Cattle Farm

Foot and MouthLondon: A recent report has showed that a new case of foot-and-mouth disease has been confirmed on a cattle farm in the Egham area of Surrey in Britain. This is the sixth case in Britain since early August.

Examinations were followed out after the animals indicated the disease signs.

Moon could be best place for evidence of early life on Earth

London, Sept 23 : Moon’s gentle surface could be the best place to find earliest evidence of life on Earth, according to a new study by a University of London researcher.

Ian Crawford of Birkbeck has said that conditions on the moon are much more gentle than those on Earth, so meteorites that blasted off our planet billions of years ago could well still be lying around on the moon.
