Italian film 'Mid-August Lunch' wins Satyajit Ray award

An Italian film 'Mid-August Lunch' has won the 13th Annual Satyajit Ray Award at London film Festival.

The award is presented by Satyajit Ray foundation.

Previous winners of the Satyajit Ray Award include "California Dreamin" (Endless), "The Lives of Others", "Pavee Lakeen", "The Woodsman", "Someone like Hodder", "Rachida", "In The Bedroom", "Uneasy Riders", "Boys don't Cry" and "Smoke Signals".

The film tells the story of a middle aged man who looks after the elderly.

"Tulpan" won the Sutherland trophy given to a director for most original and imaginative feature film.

The private Gazelle helicopter came down and burst into flames near Langley Hill Farm in Winchcombe near Cheltenham, some 150 kilometres west of London, at about midday.

Witnesses said there was heavy fog at the time of the crash, but no cause for the crash could be determined as yet.

Alanis MorissetteLondon, Nov 1: Canadian singer Alanis Morissette has revealed in her autobiography that she was raped and abused when she was a teenager.

The singer-songwriter has written an autobiography where she has spilled the beans on her traumatic past.

“I’m writing a book that will tell my life story. It details some of the things I have experienced and the abuse I’ve suffered,” The Mirror quoted her, as saying.

She added: “I was the victim of statutory rape and this book will help me get rid of the feelings of shame.”

London, Nov 1: Ronaldinho has backed LA Galaxy star David Beckham’s loan switch to AC Milan.

England ace Beckham will join the Italian giants from LA Galaxy in January to keep up his fitness levels during the MLS off-season.

And Brazil star Ronaldinho, who signed for AC Milan in the summer, cannot wait to play alongside Beckham.

“He’s a great champion. I hope he’s happy with us. We’ll take turns taking free kicks. I’ve met him in the past and I have always been struck by his class,” The Sun quoted Ronaldinho, as saying.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani claims Beckham’s arrival is a dream come true.
