UK Film Minister signs bilateral treaty with Bollywood

UK Film Minister signs bilateral treaty with BollywoodBe it for the best romantic genres or pragmatic issue-based flicks, London is one of the favorite spots of a lot of Bollywood filmmakers. Some of the most recent films shot in and around London are Cheeni Kum, Namastey London and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. A forthcoming attraction, ‘London Dreams’ also has scenes shot in the British Capital.

The UK Film Minister, Barbara Follett, recently signed a bilateral co-production treaty with Bollywood, with the view to improve the working relations between the UK and the Indian entertainment industry.

The treaty will be extremely beneficial for Indian producers, as it alleviates them with easy access to tax breaks, fresh funding sources and more support during the shoots in the country.

Filmmaker Vipul Shah and actor Ajay Devgan, who are in London, shooting for ‘London Dreams’, were present to launch the aforesaid treaty. Vipul Shah, for whom London has always been a favourite shooting destination, is pleased with this treaty as it would only further ease shooting in the UK.

In fact, the treaty is a symbiotic relationship that will benefit both the sides - the British Movie Industry will be able to stand firm against downswings in economic terms, thereby making it a win-win situation for the film and entertainment industry of India as well as UK.
