Kathmandu  - Veteran Swiss mountaineer Uwe Gianni Goltz died on his way to the summit of Mount Everest, officials said Friday.

Maoists wish to form new government quickly

PrachandaKathmandu, May 22 : In a sign of loosing patience, Maoist leader Prachanda in a meeting today tabled a proposal to open the way for the formation of a new government.

"Since after the conclusion of the Constituent Assembly election the current government headed by Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has automatically become a caretaker government, the Prime Minister will be requested that he should clarify his position and immediately invite CPN (Maoist), which has emerged as the largest party, to form a new government," reads the statement issued by Chairman Prachanda making public the decisions made by the central secretariat.

Prachanda meets kin of Ramhari Shrestha killed by Maoists

Kathmanu, PrachandaMay 22: Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda today met wife and brother of Ramhari Shrestha who was killed by the Maoist Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA) in captivity.

According to Nepalnews, Prachanda invited Shrestha's wife Ramila and brother Gyan Kumar Shrestha for talks at a hotel in Thamel.

According to sources, Prachanda assured them that the party would thoroughly probe the killing of Shrestha. He also promised to take initiative to form high level investigation commission from Government level.
