With the unceasing violence taking place in Orissa and Karanataka, Railway Oscar, Lalu Resolves To Take Up Orissa Issue In The CabinetMinister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes have resolved to take up the issue before the Cabinet meeting which is scheduled to take place on Friday.

The matter needs to be reviewed and some concrete measures have to be taken before it gets worse. With Prime Minister Manmohan Singh citing the attacks on Christians in the States of Orissa and Karanataka as “acts of national shame” and the issue being aggravated, reaching a solution will be given a priority at the Meeting.

Educomp Solutions inks agreement with DSERT

Educomp Solutions inks agreement with DSERTEducomp Solutions Ltd, a globally diversified education solutions provider, has signed an agreement with the Department of State Education Research & Training
(DSERT), Government of Karnataka for implementation of Computer Aided Education (CAE) in 1571 schools in the state.

The order is valued at Rs 109 crore and has to be executed over five years.

Apart from this, Educomp has also signed an agreement with the Government of Chhattisgarh for imparting CAE in 52 hostels.

Women can serve alcohol: Karnataka High Court

Bangalore, KarnatakaBangalore, Sept 24 : The Karnataka High Court in a land mark judgment gave ruling which allowed the employment of women at places that serve alcohol here today.

The ruling also quashes the existing “Karnataka Excise Act 1965”, which prohibits women from working at such places including pubs, dance bars and live bands, where liquor is served.

The High Court while announcing its verdict also referred to a similar judgment by the Supreme Court last year, which permitted women to be employed as bar tenders provided their security was ensured.

Central team discusses attacks on Churches in Karnataka

KarnatakaMangalore, Sept 23 : A two-member Union Home Ministry team reached Karnataka on Tuesday to review the steps taken to control the violence, following fresh attacks on churches in various districts of the state.

The team led by M L Kumawat, Special Secretary (Internal Security) held discussions with the Karnataka police about the recent attacks on churches in Mangalore.

Explosives used in capital’s serial blasts sourced from Karnataka: Delhi police

KarnatakaUdupi (Karnataka), Sept 22 : The Delhi Police said on Monday that the explosives used in capital’s serial blasts are believed to have come from Karnataka.

Delhi police and intelligence personnel questioned suspects in Manipal town of Karnataka today, where Mohammed Saif, arrested after a shootout in Delhi, was taken to find the source of explosives used in the September 13 bombings in the capital.

Besides interrogations in Manipal, a five-member Delhi Police and Intelligence Bureau team searched some hotels and other places in the town based on information provided by suspected terrorists arrested for the Delhi bombings.
