Sri Lanka tour of Pak hits a roadblockKarachi, Dec. 31: The Sri Lankan tour of Pakistan seems to have hit another road block just when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was preparing to host Sri Lanka for a test and one day international series.

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has turned down the PCB's proposal to play three tests and five one-dayers.

"Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has turned down the Pakistan Cricket Board's proposal to play three Tests and five one-dayers, making it clear that such an assignment would put extra work-load on their players," The News quoted an SLC source, as saying.

Shoaib MalikKarachi, Dec. 30 : As Pakistan looks forward to wear white clothes on a cricket field after a year against Sri Lanka, Captain Shoaib Malik is set to get an extension of his job.

"There are strong indications that Malik's stint as captain would be extended for one more year," The News quoted a PCB official, as saying.

Former Pakistan captain and wicket keeper, Moin Khan has also backed Malik for the post, saying that Pakistan cannot afford to have anybody else at the helm of their team at this point of time.

In a desperate step to save the proposed Sri Lanka tour from getting cancelled, the PCB has said that it will even use diplomatic channels to save the home series, if needed.

"We will use diplomatic channels if needed in a bid to save the proposed home series against Sri Lanka lined up for January-February next year," the News quoted Chief operating officer of Pakistan Cricket Board Saleem Altaf , as saying.

Karachi, Dec. 25 : Tennis in Pakistan is obviously not as popular as cricket or hockey which can be judged by the fact that the only tennis stadium of the country is used for holding marriage ceremonies and other functions.

Local tennis coaches and players are furious about the condition of the sport but remain a mere spectator of the situation. Government's apathy and stubborn policies towards one of the famous sport of the world has made the situation only worse. Karachi''s CDGK Complex, having a capacity of 5,000 spectators is now being used for holding functions and marriages.

It appears that the international cricket would remain apathetic to Pakistan even on the advent of next year, The News reported.

Sri Lankan sports ministry in tandem with the dissolution of Cricket Board's Ad hoc Committee has changed its stance, as Minister of Sports, Gamini Lokuge said he was not interested in sending his team to Pakistan and instead he wanted to invite the Indian team to tour Sri Lanka.
