One American soldier among 9 killed in suicide attack on US convoy in Afghanistan

Kabul, Nov 14: At least nine persons, including one US soldier and nine Afghan civilians, were killed Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, when a suicide car bomber struck a US military convoy.

Around 74 civilians were wounded in the attack, the Daily Times quoted a US military spokesman as saying.

In a separate incident, two British troops were killed on Wednesday in an explosion in Helmand province’s Garmser district, said in a statement released by Britain’s Defence Ministry.

Suicide bomber targets foreign forces in eastern Afghanistan

AfghanistanKabul - A suicide car bomber targeted a military convoy of foreign forces in the eastern province of Nangarhar early Thursday morning, with multiple casualties feared among the foreign troops and civilians, officials said.

Police officials in this province, however, did not provide details about casualties of foreign forces. They said the attack took place Bati Kot district on the main road of Jalalabad Torkham.

Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the Nangarhar province governor's spokesman, said the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber.

Six killed in Kandahar bomb attack

The bomb injured 43 people, however, Ahmed Wali Karzai escaped uninjured when the tanker exploded near where he was attending a meeting at the office of the provincial council, the BBC reported.

The latest airstrike took place on Wednesday in Ghormach district of the western province of Badghis after a group of Taliban militants attacked US military troops in the area.
