India, Benin sign five agreements

India, Benin sign five agreementsNew Delhi, Mar 4 : India and the West African nation of Benin signed five agreements on Wednesday in the fields of small-scale industries, cultural and scientific cooperation and diplomatic exchange.

The agreements were signed after delegation level talks headed by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and the visiting President of Benin, Boni Yayi.

New Delhi also offered Benin a liberalised line of credit for its developmental needs.

Earlier, Yayi was accorded a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Aniston upstaged by dogs that worked in new film

New Delhi, Mar 4 : Jennifer Aniston has revealed that she never knew that she would be upstaged by the dogs that worked with her in her new movie ''Marley and Me''.

The former `Friends' star has confessed that she and co-star often had to struggle to steal the limelight from their canine co-stars while shooting for the film.

In the film, 22 different Golden Labradors played the character of Marley, reports the China Daily.

Joking about the dogs at the UK premiere of the film in London''s Leicester Square, the 40-year-old actress said: "They didn''t warn us about that. Those dogs in the movie were really good!"

India's Congress Party picks Oscars tune as election theme song

Congress PartyNew Delhi  - Jai Ho, the Oscar-winning song from Slumdog Millionaire, has been chosen by India's Congress Party as its theme song for the coming general election, news reports said Wednesday.

The right to use Jai Ho, which roughly translates as "let there be victory," has been bought from music distributor T-Series for an undisclosed sum, the Times of India newspaper reported.

The song from the rags-to-riches film based in Mumbai slums represented hope and possibility, which was what the Congress Party means to the people of India, party sources were quoted as saying.

India's Manmohan Singh back to work one month after surgery

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi - In his first official engagement after undergoing a heart bypass surgery in January, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held talks with Benin President Bon Yayi in New Delhi Wednesday.

Singh joined the African nation's leader in a photo opportunity at his residence, after which the two men engaged in delegation-level talks.

The talks will be followed by the signing of several agreements for institutionalizing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, a release from India's External Affairs Ministry said.

Bon Yayi is on a three-day state visit to India.
