BCCI sends a revised IPL schedule to Home MinistryNew Delhi, Mar 5 : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sent a revised schedule for the second session of Indian Premier League (IPL) to the Union Home Ministry on Thursday.

According to sources, the new schedule starts from April 10 and ends on May 24.

"We have taken care to ensure that host cities are not allotted a match two days before and after the polling day. We have submitted the schedule to the Home Ministry. It is up to them now to advice us," a top IPL source said.

Schemes empower women in a Tamil Nadu village

Arurur (Tamil Nadu), Mar 5 : Hundreds of women residing in a village in Tamil Nadu have become self-reliant after the launch of numerous self-help groups in the area.

Women residing in Arurur village in Dharmapuri district in the state who have been involved in mat design industry, producing various types of color mats, are earning a good livelihood.

"We are making mats under the scheme organised by the local panchayat (village council). The Government of Tamil Nadu has given two lakh rupees for the development of this business. Lots of people have taken jobs under the scheme. With these self-help groups, we are now earning good income. It is very helpful to us," said Senthamari, one of the women benefited by the project.

 CLB asks government to appoint four nominee directors for Maytas InfraNew Delhi, Mar 5 : The Company Law Board (CLB) on Thursday asked the government to appoint four nominee directors on the board of Maytas Infra.

One of the four nominees would be the chairman of the board, it said.

The CLB has rejected the government's petition to supersede the Maytas Infra board.

The Law Board said that Maytas Infra authorizes the central government to appoint four nominees directors on the board of the company.
