India will remain a top outsourcing destination: Moody’s

Barack ObamaNew Delhi, Mar. 8 : Despite US President Barack Obama's anti-outsourcing policies, global financial firm Moody''s has said India will continue to remain a top outsourcing destination.

"India will remain a top outsourcing destination because of its tech-savvy and English-proficient urban workforce whose wages are much lower than their western counterparts," Moody''s economist Sherman Chan said.

Sherman, however, added that India''s outsourcing industry would certainly be affected by the global economic meltdown, as demand for IT support or telemarketing has weakened significantly in recent months.

White tigress gives birth to triplets at Indore Zoo

White TigeressIndore, Mar 8 : Three white cubs have been born to a white tigress at the Indore Zoo in Madhya Pradesh.

Authorities were delighted as tigress Sita gave birth to the white cubs. She was mated with a brown tiger.

"It has happened for first time in the state that a white tigress has given birth to cubs of her own colour," said Anil Jindal, zoo in-charge.

Sita was brought to the zoo last year.

According to the WWF, there are only about 4,000 tigers left in the world and are considered an endangered species.

Daryl Tuffey refuses to be a pawn in ICL-BCCI tussle

BCCIWellington, Mar. 8 : Former Kiwi fast bowler Daryl Tuffey has snubbed a call from New Zealand Cricket bosses asking him to sit out of Auckland's State Championship match against Northern Districts because of his links with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).

According to stuff. com the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had asked New Zealand Cricket officials to ask Tuffey sit out of the game so as to adjust one of the Indian Test cricketers in the Auckland team. But Tuffey refused.

Centre sanctions 80 crore rupees for Commonwealth Games security

New Delhi, Mar. 8 : The Central Government has sanctioned nearly 80 crore rupees to the Delhi Police to upgrade its equipment to provide foolproof security and avert any Lahore-type attack on sportsmen during the Commonwealth Games.

"A total of Rs 78.26 crore has been sanctioned to Delhi Police to procure additional security equipment like X-ray scanners, Door Frame Metal Detectors, Hand Held Metal Detectors, vehicles, communication equipment, specifically for Commonwealth Games 2010," a home ministry source said.
