Delhi Police, IB teams reach Karnataka today for blasts probeNew Delhi, Sept 22: A joint team comprising of Delhi Police and Intelligence Bureau (IB) today arrived in Udupi in Karnataka, where it is believed the terrorists purchased ball bearing and other equipment to make bombs used in serial blasts.

The team will also visit Dharwad, where militant training camps have been allegedly held.

Saif and Zeeshan, terror suspects arrested from Jamia Nagar on Friday, have also been taken to Karnataka, where police believe they could get more leads.

Delhi evacuates people living on the banks of Yamuna

New Delhi, Sept 22 : The Delhi government is evacuating people living on the banks of river Yamuna following the release of a record four lakhs cusecs of water by Haryana authorities.

The Yamuna crossed the danger mark and water level touched a high of 205.25 meters this afternoon.

Chief Engineer of Flood Control M. C. T Parewa said that the level is likely to rise further this evening, following continuous release of water from Haryana.

A 24-hour control room has been activated to monitor the situation and boats have been pressed to evacuate affected people, who are sheltered in roadside temporary camps, Parewa added.

Tandoors are a million dollar business today!

New Delhi, Sep. 22 : For centuries, Tandoors or, the traditional clay ovens have been an integral part of Delhi’s life. One can find them at Dhabas or roadside eateries or small restaurants.

Tandoors from Delhi have grown in popularity and are drawing a good business for traders dealing in them. Tandoors are even exported today, as a growing number of people are today drawn to Tandoori food. 

Tandoors are used in cooking for baking Chapatis, Naans or roasting purposes. And, it is said the Tandoors add a special traditional feeling and taste to the meal.

Baglihar dam displaced yet to be rehabilitated

Doda, Sept 21: With just a month is left for the commissioning of the first 150-mw unit of the Baglihar hydropower project in Jammu, residents in the dam''s catchment area complained that they were yet to be rehabilitated. However, officials refuted their claim.

The 450-megawatt Baglihar dam is being built on the Chenab river, which flows from Kashmir into Pakistan.

Over 15,000 families have to be rehabilitated before the dam is commissioned. People living in a 60-kilometre radius of the dam have to be relocated. But, many said they were yet to receive compensation for their land, which would be submerged.

India, Pakistan to discuss cross-LoC trade, CBMs todayNew Delhi, Sept 22: Officials from India and Pakistan will meet here today to discuss the modalities for launching cross Line-of-Control (LoC) trade and other Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) related to Jammu and Kashmir.

In an effort to ensure early start of new measures, the Joint Working Group on cross-LoC and CBMs, comprising senior officials, will seek to exchange ideas of the two sides.

Issue like the launch of commerce on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route will be discussed during the talks.
