New Delhi, Oct 16 : Baba Ramdev, the self made Yoga Guru, will conduct a 10 day yoga camp to impart training to personnel of Central para-military forces from tomorrow.
This is part of the efforts made by the Ministry of Home Affairs for stress management among the personnel.
About three to four thousand personnel from all central para-military forces will be trained during the camp.
They will impart further training in yoga to the personnel of their own battalions so that the personnel posted in remote areas can also benefit from yoga.
New Delhi, Oct. 16 : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has denied reports published in a section of media that it has received a report from the Delhi Police Commissioner on the Batla House encounter in Jamia Nagar in New Delhi on September 19.
The NHRC will take a view on the issue only after a report on encounter is received by the Delhi Police.
The Commission had issued a notice to the Delhi Police Commissioner on 24.09.08 on the complaint of an NGO, Real Cause.
Hyderabad, Oct 16 : Air India on Thursday said that it is considering a plan to give about 15,000 of its staff a three-five years leave without pay.
Air India CMD Raghu Menon said, "We are planning to offer leave without pay for three to five years. We can consider it for about 15,000 employees."
However, he said, those who take up the offer to go on leave would be taken back if they desire so at the same seniority and last drawn pay.
Menon''s statement comes at a time when the country''s leading private carrier Jet Airways has laid off 1,100 jobs as the financial crisis in the aviation sector worsens.
New Delhi, Oct 16 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for moving necessary amendments to the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Bill, 2005 pending in Rajya Sabha.
The bill will help to prevent spread of economically important infectious and contagious diseases from one part of the country to another.
It will help to establish "Controlled" and "Eradicated areas" within the country in order to reduce economic losses on account of major economically important infectious and contagious diseases of livestock.
Mumbai, Oct 16 : In response to the Maharashtra Government''s decision to phase out taxis that over 25-years old, thousands of taxis and auto rickshaws observed a day-long strike in Mumbai on Thursday.
Sharad Rao, the leader of the Mumbai Autorickshaw-Taximen''s Union, said, "The Union has given a strike call to protest the Maharashtra government''s decision to phase out taxis which are over 25-years old, besides other issues."
