Sankararaman murder case hearing adjournedPuducherry, Nov 21: A court in Puducherry today adjourned the hearing of the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Sankaracharyas, Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi are the main accused to December 18.

When the case came for hearing today before the principal District and Sessions judge D. Krishnaraja, out of the 24 accused, only 12 were present.

The absentees included the two main accused Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi and junior seer Vijayendra Saraswathi.

Dalmiya expulsion case: BCCI moves Supreme CourtNew Delhi, Nov. 21: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Calcutta High Court''s directive to initiate criminal proceedings against six of its top officials for filing false affidavits that led to the expulsion of Jagmohan Dalmiya from the BCCI.

The High Court had found former president Sharad Pawar and five others guilty of perjury in a case relating to misappropriation of funds by ex-BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya.

EC orders to register case against Chhattisgarh CMThe Election Commission of India has ordered to lodge a case against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for seeking votes over FM radio even as second-phase polling was underway.

EC has directed the Returning Officer to file the FIR. The complaint was made by independent candidate Virendra Pandey. Pandey alleged that Singh spoke on two local FM radio channels seeking vote in favour of BJP.

German Foreign Minister meets Advani

Frank-Walter SteinmeierNew Delhi, Nov 20 : German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier met the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal KrishnaAdvani in New Delhi on Thursday.

Steinmeier is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee during the course of his visit.

Steinmeier, who is also vice-chancellor of Germany, is on a three-day maiden visit to India, to discuss various bilateral issues including enhancing trade ties between the two countries.

Issues like current global economic crisis and environment protection are likely to be the focus during his visit.
