Ahmedabad, Feb 13 : The police custody of Valsad Deputy Superintendent of Police K G Erda, who was arrested in connection with his role in the 2002 Gujarat riots, ends today.
On February 9, Erda was remanded in police custody till today.
Metropolitan Magistrate C. B Patel passed the order after a Special Investigating Team (SIT) submitted a report of its investigation.
Erda was an inspector at the Meghaninagar police station during the riots.
Madhavpur (Gujarat), Feb 9 : The Indian Army, Navy and the Air Force today jointly conducted the largest ever amphibious exercise codenamed "EXERCISE TROPEX-2009" at Madhavpur beach in Gujarat.
The amphibious landing, the most complex of all military manoeuvres involving coordination and synergy from conceptualization to planning and final execution, was ably demonstrated on the shores of Madhavpur.

Metallurgical coke maker Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd said on Monday that it will raise up to Rs 1,000 crore through institutional placement. An official quoted that the company would raise funds up to Rs 1,000 crore through the issue of non-convertible debentures (NCD) with warrants on qualified institutional placement basis.
However, the terms and conditions of the said NCD issuance would be decided by the board of directors and would be subject to the shareholders' approval.
