JD(U) MPs to resign

To steal the show from RJD over Bihari-Maratha conflict, the JD(U) has announced that all its five Lok Sabha MPs would resign protesting the attack of Biharis in Mumbai.

JD(U) parliamentary party leader announced this on Thursday. He said that  "there was no option left before his party but asking its LS members to resign as the Maharashtra government was "patronising" those involved in such attacks and the central government was "silent" on the issue."

"The decision was taken as no action was taken against the culprits even after an all-party delegation of Bihar MPs met PM Manmohan Singh a few days back," Singh added.

Lalu prays for peace and brotherhood in the country on Chhath Puja

Lalu Prasad YadavPatna, Nov. 5 : Rashtriya Janata Dal President and Union Minister for Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav along with his family here today offered prayers to the Sun God on the last day of Chatth Puja, the poplar festival of Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Chatth Puja is performed with utmost religious fervour, for three successive days after a week-long gap from Diwali, the festival of lights.

RJD MP manhandles Kingfisher Airlines managerAkhilesh Prasad Singh, Union Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal MP, allegedly assaulted the station manager of Kingfisher Airlines at Patna Airport on Monday. The incident took place when he was not allowed to board Patna-Kolkata flight, as he reported late at the airport.

MNS violence: Majority RJD MPs, MLAs submit resignations

Lalu Prasad YadavPatna, Nov 4 : In line with RJD president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad’s call for resignation of elected representatives from Bihar against the anti-north Indian violence by MNS in Maharashtra, the party legislators and parliamentarians have started submitting their resignation letters to the party leadership.

Till today, 75 percent of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, and nearly 35 of its 55 MLAs and eight of 15 MLCs have submitted their letters of resignation, Shyam Rajak, RJD’s spokesman, said.

Chhat Puja festival begins in Bihar

Patna, Bihar Patna, Nov. 3 : Chhat, the thanksgiving festival dedicated to the Sun God for bestowing the bounties of life in earth and fulfilling everyone’s wishes, started here today with Kharna ritual.

The festival is significant for married women in specific, as they observe a two-day fast and offer prayers standing waist-deep in water and offer fruits and flowers to Surya, the Sun God.

Several married women here today observed dawn to dusk fast marking ‘Kharna’ for the long life of husband and son and mark the fist day of the three-day Chhat Puja.

Buddhists pray in Bodh Gaya for world peace

Lord Buddha Bodh Gaya, Nov. 3 : A group of Buddhist monks in Bodh Gaya conducted prayers for the world peace in a special annual ceremony, which was attended by about
100 visiting Buddhist devotees from Thailand on Sunday.

Monks chanted Mantras to seek peace across the world at the ceremony called ‘Kathin Cheeva Daan’.

The occasion also drew attraction of the devotees when monks created a tall Lord Buddha statue in just 12 hours time from dawn to dusk.
