Four Afghan civilians, four insurgents killed in separate attacks

Kabul  - A suicide attack in southern Afghanistan left four civilians dead and wounded four soldiers Friday. In separate incidents, four insurgents were killed and eight arrested in operations in the north and east of the country.

A suicide bomber detonated his explosive-laden vehicle in front of an Afghan army base in the Shah Joy district of southern Zabul province on Friday, killing four civilians and wounding four soldiers from the Afghan army, Gulob Shah Alikhail, the deputy provincial governor said.

He said that four dead civilians were daily-wage workers, who were queuing to enter the base when the attack took place.

Suicide bomber attacks NATO base; Afghan police kill 9 Taliban

Afghanistan & NATOKabul- A suicide bomber attacked a NATO base in eastern Afghanistan Thursday, wounding two NATO soldiers and four Afghan nationals, while nine insurgents were killed after they attacked a district governor, officials said.

The bomber attacked a NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) base in the Sabari district of the south-eastern province of Khost, an ISAF spokesman said.

Tribals fleeing from tribal areas coming into Peshawar via Afghanistan

Pakistan, AfghanistanLandikotal (Pakistan), Nov 20 : Due the ongoing military operations in Bajaur and Mohmand tribal agencies, people fleeing from here are coming to Peshawar through Afghanistan, an official at the Torkham border reportedly said.

The official said over 200 people have crossed the border in a single day.

“We had to cross into the bordering areas of Afghanistan and cover a long distance to reach the border because security forces have blocked roads leading from the two agencies to Peshawar,” the Daily Times quoted a senior citizen from Mohmand Agency as saying.

Suspected U.S. airstrike kills six people in Pakistan

An unmanned U. S. Predator aircraft fired at least two missiles early Wednesday at a house near north Waziristan, one of seven semi-autonomous tribal territories that line Pakistan''s border with Afghanistan.

Pak Army chief urges NATO to win support of tribals along Pak-Afghan border

Brussels, Nov 20 : Pakistan Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq Kayani has reportedly said that NATO should try to win the support of tribesmen in order to stop the Taliban crossing over the international border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He said that the NATO should engage Pashtuns living in the areas along the Pak-Afghan border rather than simply try to seal the border to stop Taliban crossing over.

Quoting a private TV channel report, the Daily Times reported that Kayani urged the NATO Defence Committee in Brussels to halt the use of spy planes inside Pakistani territory. Kayani also vowed to keep the supply line to NATO open.
