Red Cross Urges People to Offer Donations
Tesco has reportedly donated a sum of £40,000 to the British Red Cross to lend a hand in charity’s emergency aid operations in Southern East Asia.
£20,000 amount will be credited in favour of charity’s disaster fund. It will be served for the flood affected people in Vietnam and emergency resources aimed for people affected by the earthquake, tsunami and volcanic eruption in Indonesia.
The Thai Red Cross and Malay Red Crescent will be getting £10,000 to offer support for flood victims in Thailand and Malaysia.
Tesco seemingly has produced funds which can be offered for corporate donations, clubcard appeals, customer collections, employee fundraising and goods donations from stores.
Tesco reportedly has funded £630,000 for the British Red Cross this year in lieu of the emergency response alliance which has led to form within the charity in 2009. Since 2007 Tesco seemingly has gathered over £4.6m for the charity and the Disaster Emergency Committee.
Josh Hardie, head of corporate responsibility at Tesco added, “We hope that this donation will support the relief efforts in the region and build on the large amount of emergency support work already being undertaken by our businesses in Thailand and Malaysia.”
