Recycling Campaign By Nokia
On the very first day of the 2009, Nokia launched its ‘Take Back’ campaign with the aim to encourage the users of mobile phone to dispose off their used handsets and accessories at any of the recycling bins set up across Nokia priority dealers and Nokia care centres, no matter what brand they belong to.
Nokia would plant a tree for each handset dropped into the recycling bins and would also be gifting presents to the people participating in its campaign.
The initiative by the India’s top mobile phone seller to educate mobile phone users on the importance of recycling of e-waste commenced from Delhi and gradually it will spread the programme in phases across the country.
Nokia India Vice-President and Managing Director D. Shivakumar reported before the initiative had commenced, “We have laid out a robust recycling infrastructure across the country with over 1,300 recycling bins installed at our centre across India. We work with qualified recyclers around the world to ensure proper end-of-life treatment of used devices.”
The basic and foremost aim of the ‘Take back’ campaign is to spread and enhance awareness of the concept of recycling among users.
